This is a new 1st time project for me - It's a Mini-Z Overland Toyota Hilux, it will be based on the 1/10 Tamiya version (similar to what Xmod4life is doing on the Xmod truck Chassis). I have already done alittle work on this one - I widened the wheel wells abit, cut out a space for the chassis and i've alos done half the interior already too. This one shouldn't take so long since it's doen't involve a complicated mounting process, but I'll have to make a few custom pieces so that will be the only time consuming thing for this one.

Here's a quick mock up of the body and chassis:

I have to get new rims for it also - hopefully I can find some nice alloy ones or another set of cool looking offroad rims.

Thanks guys!

The interior is almost done - it just needs to be painted black now. Here's a few pics of it so far:

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r99/xmodification/New%20Projects%20pics/103_1673.jpg

Here's how it's mounted:

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r99/xmodification/New%20Projects%20pics/103_1672.jpg

The mounts are pretty much easy and it's teh most sturdiest way I could think of for it. I have to cut the screws and then it will be painted black so the screw heads will barely be visible also.

I got few custom pieces to make for this one so i'll keep you guys updated on it.

it's looking good! that is the first time i've seen a body mounted that way on an overland, very simple yet functional.

Very interesting way of mounting the body - looks very effective. Great work thus far! :)

Great stuff, the battery covers / mounts was a great idea... can't wait to see how the front bars turn out...

Thanks for all the cool comments guys!

Ok, I did alittle work on it this weekend:

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r99/xmodification/New%20Projects%20pics/103_1678.jpg

Now I have to add the second part of the paint scheme, add the front grille, and add in the tinted windows. I'll be doing the body details last on this, and I also have to finish making the front brushguard, side rails and the front skid plate too.

More updates to come soon.

Thanks for all the cool comments and suggestions guys.

So far i'm about 85% complete with it, there's still a few little touch-ups to do and also a few to be modified and custom made.

Here's a few pics of it so far:

I'm also waiting for a new set of alloy rims to arrive in the mail so i'll be getting rid of that odd set on it in a few days :halo:

More updates to come soon!

I bought my from an online Ebay store in Hong Kong - they delivered it really fast though.

Here's a few pics of more or less the final look of this project:

continuation...

The front grill isn't my best ( I broke my mini-shears doing this one and I had to resort to a wire clipper). Overall it still looks good and it's pretty much the closest I can make it to the Tamiya version for now.

On the bright side - I just received my new set of rims from UPS this morning - YEAH!!! But I have to take some new pics later since I left the truck at my work place.

A few more new pics to come later.

That is awesome man, I'm glad to see another sweet build from you.

I know you have done a lot of 4x4 xmod projects, and I see that you have now switched to the Overland for this project, can you give us some comparison between the xmod and OL on performance and specs etc.? And which do you prefer?

Thanks dude! I actually preffer the X-truck over the OL's for 4x4 offroading anyday, that's because the OL's are RWD only. I do like the OL's for the Autoscale bodies and the suspension system, plus they're alot of fun for rally type and onroad racing - they'll out perform xmods btw far in those type of grounds. The other things why I would preffer an xmod over an Ol are because the OL's are way expensiver, even the parts are expensive compared to the Xmods' that are like 1/3 of the price. I won't try to custom modify an OL's chassis as I would do a Xmods' - the price is enough to detour me from that -lol.

Here's a few pics with the new rims:

The last updated minor modification that i'll be doing is another skid plate - it will be a little smaller and with smaller holes also.

Thanks for watching guys!

Awesome! I wasn't so sure about the MR-02 rims at first, but after seeing them mounted they look great! It looks like they give you a little more offset too. Great work.

yep, those pn d5 wheels are nice! it's easy to paint and repaint them as well if you wish to color coordinate them. i've painted mine a few times.
